Impact of canceling on a screener

I just canceled a screener at a V10 firm because of a schedule conflict with a callback at a V50 firm. My reasoning is that the V50 callback gives a much higher chance of an offer than a V10 screener does for a median T20 student.

Probabilistically, I think this was the right choice but I’m wondering if this precludes my chances at switching to the V10 firm in the near future (3L year or lateraling after 1-3 years).

Did I shut my own door at that V10 firm, or is canceling a screener pretty routine and completely forgettable?

As long as you were professional about it, cancelling the screener is totally forgettable.

But I have to ask, is there a reason you cancelled instead of rescheduling?

Why would you not just ask to reschedule the screener?

The screener was a non-reschedulable OCI interview & the callback didn't have any other time slot

Got it. Well in that case, as long as you followed your school’s proper procedure for cancelling then it really won’t matter in the future. V10’s have so many OCI screeners that there’s no way they will remember you cancelling.
