Hey! I need some help deciding between these three firms. I'm interested in tech transactions and data privacy and cybersecurity. Ultimately, I'm looking for a firm that has a supportive culture and high quality of work. Any info that you have on these firms would be greatly appreciated

MoFo and Hogan are chambers band 1 nationwide for Privacy & Data Security. Latham is band 4. None have that practice ranking specific to DC. All three have great transactional practices broadly speaking. All else being equal (not saying it is), in your specific practice area it looks like MoFo and Hogan are stronger overall. Take that info and add various other things (billable requirements, what counts, etc) and your gut feeling. Great options, you won’t go wrong with any of them.

Yeah I did!

I would take Hogan pretty easily. MoFo and Hogan both have very strong privacy practices (MoFo is if anything slightly more respected), but Hogan is overall the much bigger player in DC, so it will leave you with more flexibility if your interests change over the summer and the rest of law school.

For transactional generally, Latham is probably the strongest firm in DC. Latham and Hogan are also generally much bigger DC players than MoFo. No idea on these specific practices, though, which are pretty niche.

Listen to this one, OP. And not sure how much it matters, but I've also heard that MoFo hasn't been getting as many cybersecurity cases lately as one might think, so they might actually be slightly overhyped in that area.

Yeah I did!

What was the timeline if I may ask?

So, my timeline was a bit unconventional. I did my screener the morning of 01/25 and one of the two partners that I did my screener with called me to extend an offer in the afternoon/evening of 01/25.

What did you end up taking?

I ended up going with Latham. I don't plan on staying in DC forever, so I thought Latham would be the better option. Plus, I ended up getting a scholarship offer, so that also made the decision much easier.
