Curious if anyone has any thoughts on these firms in Orange County?

Pretty broad question - are you focused on transactional or litigation?

Latham and GDC are the top two in OC. GDC's HQ is in LA, while Latham is in NY so GDC feels more connected IMO. I heard Latham has more transactional work in OC.

Latham "doesn't have an HQ" but it was originally an LA firm, not a NY firm. But I think LA is now only its third-largest office after NY and DC.

Wikipedia says Latham has HQ in NY but I acknowledge that's probably a bad source.

Anon because I worked at one of these. If lit oriented, probably GDC. If transactional, Latham OC has good work, including some interesting regulatory stuff. JD OC also has a strong M&A/transactional group. I’m not sure which one is “better” but I know there are compensation issues at JD broadly.
