For corporate? Yes. For Litigation? No. If you got an offer you have academic accolades that will show up on your firm profile for the duration of your career. For lit, the pretty minor bump in prestige on top of those wouldn't be worth it, YMMV of course. Whether or not the money is worth it is totally dependent on your financial situation.
Plenty of people go to Wachtell, clerk, and leave - but you don't get a bonus for the summer work, so what's the point? You can almost assuredly go somewhere you will enjoy the summer instead.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 3:08 pmDifferent poster, kind of similar question...
Let's say you have a summer offer for Wachtell (summer associate) but arent interested in working there after... is it worth doing the summer just to have it on your resume? is there any signaling value (or actual substantive training value)? Or would the look of changing firms after 2L make it look like something was wrong?
You may be overvaluing WLRKs reputational power. It's one of numerous very highly regarded, elite firms. You no doubt had offers from several. Choose whichever you think you'll like the most and whichever best fits your interests. Past a certain point (and you're past it) there's not a huge difference in terms of signaling valueAnonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 3:08 pmDifferent poster, kind of similar question...
