Do firms give advances for 2L summer associates? Just wondering Thanks!

To my understanding, most offer a summer advance of a few thousand.

At least some offer an advance of more than a few thousand.

Also have to wonder why anyone feels obligated to anonymously share either a fact or their understanding about salary advances.
