There seems to be very little info floating around for the Latham DC office. Has anyone had their cb yet? If so is it a panel interview like has been discussed in the past? Any offers and any idea of cb to offer timeline?

I interviewed and got an offer there last year, I didn't have a panel interview and I think I got the offer fairly quickly. My callback was pretty normal and casual. The office has a very broad practice, with a strength in transactional that's somewhat unique in DC (Band 1 for PE and M&A, and Carlyle, one of its biggest PE clients, is DC-based). For that sort of thing it's probably #1 in the market, though Skadden is another big player for M&A. But it's also Band 1 or 2 in all of the normal DC lit practices and has a number of strong regulatory practices. My sense was that it's established itself as one of the top firms in DC but it's not one of the traditional DC firms, much like Latham's role in many other markets.

I just did my CB today. No panel interview. Very nice and conversational people!

Does Latham’s DC office have an in-house gym? If no is there a gym subsidy?

There is a gym in the Latham DC building that you can go to for free (when it reopens after COVID).

The Latham DC office is super nice in general, comfortably the best one I did a callback at last year. If you google around you can see some pictures from the architects, etc. who managed its renovation.

Does the DC office have any nice perks? Subsidized cafeteria? Parking garage? Offices or cubicles for first year associates?

Can any current or recently former juniors give some insight into Latham’s unassigned program? Up to 2 years to try out almost anything you want sounds great, but I also get a “too good to be true” vibe. How does it work in reality? As advertised, or does the nature of how you get work in the office make it unlikely that you can truly try all kinds of different stuff if you really want to? Thanks.

Can confirm from this week that it is not a panel interview. Also agree they were all very nice and easy to speak with.

Are they back in the office or still teleworking? If it’s all telework I’m not sure how that even matters. And post-Covid...for $200k+ walking in the door not knowing anything, complaining about a cubicle for a year seems like some entitled K-JD crap. ymmv

Lol come on. People with offers at a firm like this, have other choices that pay them the exact same. Getting an office is a perfectly reasonable basis for comparison.

Latham DC is still teleworking and no plans have been announced for any formal recall to the office. I would be surprised if there is a formal recall in 2021. The partners in my group are saying vaccine or bust--nobody needs to come to the office until everybody who wants vaccinated has been. I go in a few times a month and there's been 5-6 associates there at most.

First years used to share an office (2 per office, fairly spacious) for about 8-10 months before getting their own office, but I understand that will not be the case going forward, in DC at least. I liked sharing an office for a bit, so actually a little sad to see that go, but makes sense given the current environment.
