Sidley (Chicago) v Latham (Chicago) v Skadden (Chicago) v Quinn Emanuel (NY)

Looking for any thoughts...

I have a fairly heavy litigation focus (though open to almost any type of litigation) and am looking to stay at least 5 years/perhaps make a run at partner.

I’m leaning more towards Chicago as I think I’ll likely enjoy living there more vs. NYC, but Quinn seems hard to turn down (or am I buying too much into the hype?).

From what I've heard from a friend there QE is a sweatshop, and QE NYC especially so. And if you like Chicago, and like making more money, I see no reason to go to NYC. Skadden forces you to choose a practice at the end of the summer, which made it not that attractive to me as a generalist litigator. Though if you want to do white collar, Pat Fitzgerald is a great lawyer and a great man. I would probably go with Sidley or Latham. The Chicago firms are on roughly the same tier, Sidley probably the strongest but not by much.
