Salary start date

Hey all,
Was just curious, do firms usually start paying you your salary at after graduation but prior to the bar, or post bar? Is it appropriate to inquire? My offer letter does not say and just don't want to start any awkward conversations if I can avoid them.
Thanks

I'm also curious but from what I've heard most firms give you a stipend before your start date

You’re not going to get paid a salary before you start working. Some (most?) biglaw firms do either a stipend for bar study, or an advance on the salary you will start making once you start working there. I think it’s perfectly fair to ask your recruiting contact whether the firm offers a bar stipend or advance, although you can probably also ask around your school or if you know anyone already at the firm you can ask them. Just don’t ask if you get paid a salary before your first day of work because things don’t work that way.
