For those who have accepted a full-time offer from their 2L summers, what are the risks involved in applying (or doing OCI) to other firms? In other words, is it likely that the 2L firm will find out? If so, can they rescind the full-time offer?

I did 3L OCI to change markets and trade up. From my experience, firms I applied to generally understood why I wanted to make the move and made the process confidential. This time around, 3L OCI didn’t really start until November, so firms interviewing 3Ls knew they would be reneging in the first place (deadline to accept 2L summer return offer was generally Oct. 1). It’s unlikely your firm would find out and rescind your return offer, especially if it doesn’t have an office in the market you’re applying to. I suppose anything is possible, though.

Thank you for your response! My firm does not have an office in the market that I am looking to apply in. Have you ever heard of 2L firms finding out and rescinding?
