Wondering if people could talk to what these firms are like on the transactional side? I have offers from 2 of these firms so far and have had callbacks or am scheduled for callbacks at the rest. I really liked the people I've talked to at Sidley, Ropes, McDermott, and Morgan Lewis but I feel like the firms all have very different practice area strengths. Is that something that I should be worrying about? Should I factor in being at a HQ vs a satellite? First gen law student here so any and all advice would be greatly appreciated!

In Chicago, my impression is that it's Kirkland > Sidley > MB > everybody else, but Kirkland is at the top.

As mentioned above, this should really be a Kirkland and Sidley debate. Even then, Kirkland is clearly the answer. Also, if you start at Kirkland, you can later go to any of those other firms.

I think it's fine to go to Sidley if you liked it more, the difference between it and Kirkland isn't much and Sidley has a reputation as a less brutal place to work
