Guaranteed return offers this year?

Any thoughts on whether firms will follow last year's precedent to guarantee full-time offers this summer? Particularly interested in V10s.

Wasn't that practice limited to firms that canceled their summer programs? I can't remember if firms that went ahead with the full program actually guaranteed offers in advance.

No, many firms that didn't cancel also guaranteed offers. You can see what firms did here:

I'd say given there's significantly less uncertainty in the world as summer 2021 approaches I think the normal method of extending offers at the end of summer will likely resume. I feel like last summer's guaranteed offers were mostly to help summers rest a bit easier as there was so much speculation regarding programs being cut/salaries being adjusted and no firm wanted to signal that they were going to handle this in a 2009 Latham-esque manner.

Yeah my firm had a full (remote) summer and did NOT guarantee offers at the start, but DID end up giving 100% return offers at the end (at least in our office). So a lack of guarantee up front doesn’t necessarily mean you wouldn’t all get it, it seems like they wanted to just evaluate people through the program like normal.
