WLRK Callback Info

Hi all. I have had the good fortune of receiving a callback from Wachtell. A couple of questions:

(1) What should I expect in my callback? I have read they are more substantive -- is anyone willing to elaborate/provide examples?

(2) Does anyone know what the general timeline is for an answer (be it offer or ding) following a callback? I have a pre-OCI offer that expires relatively soon, so am trying to navigate that.

Thank you in advance. :D

I had mine a few days ago and I found it to be a hair more substantive than other interviews. Mainly, we just discussed actual legal issues (such as the thesis of a seminar paper ai wrote), rather than small talk. Although, I do not think this requires any special preparation (I wasted my time doing an entire corporate law course on Quimbee lol).

The HR person I talked with at the end of the interviews said they should get a decision out in a week or two.

You should definitely tell them about any deadlines you have. They’ll probably ask in any event.

Know your resume in and out. Have anecdotes ready for each position. Be ready to explain why you can hand the unbearable work load, even though you probably can't. Also why you want to work there, without referencing comp.

If they do the thing where you talk to an associate afterwards don't let your guard down. But also don't be weird and too formal.

Got an offer like a week or so after I interviewed. They take some more time than other firms (e.g. heard back from another V10 in NYC the same day as the CB).
