Cooley v. Goodwin (SF and Silicon Valley)?

I would like some insight and a comparison of the cultures, pay down the road, work-life balance, financial health of the offices (possibility of layoffs), work culture (facetime), and breadth of work for their California practices.

I want to work with emerging tech companies (startups) as well as Big Tech companies. I know Cooley has a stronger reputation on the West Coast, but besides that, what would make one choose to work at that firm over Goodwin in NoCal? I'm focused on corporate, tech transactions, and IP work within the tech and biotech industry. Diversity and being supported in that respect is also important to me.

I would say Cooley is stronger on the west coast in all practice areas except PE.

Agree that Cooley is generally stronger. Goodwin pulled some really sketchy stealth layoffs during Covid (and then promptly hit the lateral market to try to plug the holes for whatever reason) so I would tread carefully.
