In house L&E salary packages

Is anyone familiar with in house L&E salary and benefit packages? Especially interested in the southeast markets like Atlanta and Charlotte. I hear a lot about transactional on house pay but not as much about L&E even though the positions seem relatively common. Note I'm over 5 years out of LS.

Check the in-house comp datapoints thread. Most people included their practice area, and there were a bunch of L&E data points. I can't speak to any general ranges, but can at least share my own datapoint as an in-house L&E attorney. I work in NYC for a media company. Made the move after about 6 years of firm practice, and they started me at $185k, 20% target bonus, about $7,500 in equity each year, and a generous 401k match.

My guess is that company/industry will be more determinative of your compensation offer than your practice group. Tech/Energy/Finance tends to pay better than retail (for example), but company size and performance are also important.

Companies tend to look at your from your previous employer when setting up your comp package. I'm not saying in-house would attempt to match biglaw, but it tends to be at least their basis for calibration. If you are coming from a lockstep biglaw firm, they very well might offer exactly the same package as they would an M&A person.
