For those practicing, do you prefer if someone reaches out with an email or with a Linkedin message?

Email is cold, but generally comes across professionally.
LinkedIn is more personal, but can remain professional if the communication you send isn't needlessly casual.
I'd probably be more inclined to help someone on LinkedIn. The fact that I don't have to do much to confirm their identity, especially if they're a 2nd or 1st degree contact, makes the initial contact seem less out of left field. An email from someone I never met, unless someone told me to expect it, is as easy to disregard as the finance bros calling me on my firm number to help them help me manage my money.

Linkedin because of ability to see your face, assuming you have photo - any photo will do!
