DPW (NY) v. PW (NY) for White Collar>AUSA

Do folks have thoughts between the two in terms of practice opportunities, AUSA pipeline, and culture?

I have offers from both. I want to primarily work in white-collar defense and investigations before hopefully getting an AUSA position. It seems like DPW's white-collar practice is mostly in DC but has a solid practice in NY too. Paul, Weiss seems to have a larger practice, at least in NY, and a more laidback/extroverted culture.

I am also interested in politics later on and know PW is very active in fundraising, but this seems negligible at my level.

Compensation and hours seem about the same?

Am interested in thoughts on how Debevoise might figure into this as well.

I’m not at one of these firms so can’t speak to the comparisons, but any firm where you can work with former AUSAs is a helpful connection.

But if you want to clerk in NY (which is where most of these former AUSAs will have connections), you’re best served by looking to clerk in NY. After clerking you can always switch firms if you didn’t like your summer or they didn’t have the kind of work you wanted etc.
