Re: Help deciding
Do you have any interest in that financial work? If so, does the regional firm also do it (thinking about whether you'd be able to go get experience at the biglaw shop, and then lateral to the more lifestyle friendly regional firm in a couple years)?
Also, do you know if anyone has previously lateralled from that biglaw firm office to the regional firm?

If the regional firm is RBH, take that offer and don’t look back.

Are you willing to specify what type of "very specific financial work " ?
Do you want to do that type of financial work ?
Based on your post which started this thread, it seems as though the regional firm is the better option due to breadth of practice areas and likelihood of making partner.

Re: Help deciding
If you want to be a lawyer for the long haul and $40k (minus taxes) wont be a huge hit to your financial security in the short term, I'd go with the mid-size firm. Happiness and security over the long term could likely make up for the short term pay gap. Lots of biglaw lawyers burn out after 3-4 years and leave money on the table. I think this is less likely to happen at reputable mid-size firms, especially with a no (or 1750) billable hour requirement. If you know you want to get out after a few years, go to the big firm.
