Referral Question

A friend of a friend reached out asking if I could submit them to an open position at my firm. They said they emailed recruiting directly about an opening before the posting went up but hadn’t heard back.
If this person ends up getting the job, I don’t think I get the referral bonus. I’ll submit them anyway since it takes two minutes, but I was curious if anyone has any info on this. I asked a coworker, and he said that he thinks that he had a similar situation, and he got the referral bonus but wasn’t sure.
