OP here. Contact at the firm just reached out basically asking why I haven't accepted yet and generally "checking in." Have not accepted offer yet but have interviews at other firms in our secondary market. It's a big secondary so not sure about my SA firm finding out or if they'd even be offended if they did. Should I accept and possibly renege? Seems like bad form, but if the other interviews don't pan out, I probably shouldn't be the last person in our smallish class to accept.

Absolutely accept, should have done it a couple weeks ago. As others said you don't want to stick out. Accept and keep applying. You're not going to get hired at another firm in the next few weeks anyway. Just keep applying and if you get something you can renege. The firm will not care since that is almost certainly what they want you to do
OP here. Thanks, I reluctantly accepted. Do you think reneging is worse in a large secondary market vs. NY/CHI/SF, etc? The reason I was trying to hold out is because I am in fact having interviews at other firms in the same market. These firms are interviewing me with the Oct.1st deadline in mind. So now if I renege it will be a couple weeks after my acceptance... in the same market where the legal community gets together with the bar association at happy hours ... how bad?

It is slightly worse in a smaller market, but the firm seems to want people to look elsewhere so I don't think it will matter.

Agree I'm one of the previous anons from before. OP, I think you are overthinking this. I think this is the thread where your firm more or less told you they'd be fine if some of your class didn't come back so I don't think they will care if you renege. Sounds like they want you to on some level.
