Lateral? Chambers v Vault question

Midlevel associate here. My firm is ranked regionally and nationally on Chambers, but is not ranked on Vault 100. I recently got an offer from a V20 firm that is not ranked in NY or nationally for my practice area.

My goal is to go in-house in 3-4 years. Should I make the jump to the V20 firm to open up more doors?

Given that this is NY, should I rely more on the Vault ranking or Chambers? I’m in a specialty transactional practice.

The V20 pays more, but not significantly so, so I’m not considering this as a factor.

Any help is appreciated.

I assume you mean your specialty transactional practice is ranked on Chambers, right?

If you are seeking go in-house in your specialty practice, and have seen others follow that route with clients of your firm, you should stay at your firm. If you anticipate going in-house as a generalist, then go for name recognition of the v20.
