Do you have any idea why they declined to hire you earlier? If they had you on their shortlist but ended up hiring someone else, and then that hire didn't work out (or they realized they needed even more headcount), reapplying could go really well. If they rejected you for any other reason (credentials, personality, etc.), seems like a risky career move to work someplace where people aren't exactly thrilled to have you on board. But in the latter case you have a vanishingly small chance of getting re-interviewed anyway so I'd go ahead and pull the trigger. Don't forget to update your resume.

Are you out of work right now or looking to lateral? If you are looking for employment I supposed you have nothing to lose, but if you already have a job, I'd wait another 6 months to a year before applying. Unless this is a rare opportunity, it's likely the firm will have another opening in the not too distant future and you'll have a better chance then.

Should I just resubmit on their careers platform or should I directly email the recruiter (who sent me my rejection, lol)?

I’m leaning the careers platform because the job is still posted, but open to thoughts.

Likely makes more sense to apply directly. Not sure how long the tail period generally is for recruiters to still get credit at firms but that there's a possibility you'll come without an additional fee is a plus.
