Wow...can anyone confirm? That is really brutal and way off what has been said otherwise from other shops. Wonder if this will set a new trend of mandatory return in middle of summer.

LMAO. S&C taking Biden’s July 4 normalcy thing very literally...

Also, what’s the point of “logo facing out” if the downtown 1 train isn’t going to be full of other white collar workers seething with preftige envy?

It’s frustrating to hear that may happen. Open up the office on a voluntary basis. But to set a mandatory return date after 500k+ people died and productivity continued without any loss, is really surprising. Can’t we get past the pandemic before jamming back into the city. Firms like Willkie and Ropes have been very logical with their approach. No reason to require folks to take any risk on this.

I don't understand how they can have a "mandatory" return when there is a variant spreading like wildfire that has a 64% higher kill rate. What are they thinking? Requiring people to crowd into public transportation is not smart in any way. Stupid. I'm glad I don't work at this sweatshop shit hole. I hope associates are smart enough to quit ASAP after they require a return to the office.

Rising back this summer is really aggressive on a mandatory basis. Assume you can get the first of two shots by Memorial Day, you would be getting the second end of June and two weeks thereafter you are immune (so July 10thish). That seems like an aggressive but realistic timeline for a 30 year old healthy person to have access. If it must be mandatory and ASAP, Labor Day makes so much more sense. And if you really care about waiting for the pandemic to end, 2022 would make sense.

Yes but:
Few things annoyed Solomon more last year than an encounter with a junior employee in the Hamptons. The Goldman Sachs boss has told lieutenants how the underling walked up at a restaurant, introduced himself and pointed to associates with him -- in the middle of a workday.

I would rather quit my job and become a gigolo than suffer having to smell my office mate’s morning gas 5 days a week. #cantgoback.

Sounds like you need to get off his ass.

While you're at it, get off yours because like it or not we will be going back to the office. Kudos to S&C (Strong & Courageous LLP.) for not being afraid of a virus.
Dude, you don't need to "get off" of someone's ass when you're fucking stuck in a 10X8 box 12-15 hours a day together against your will. You sound like a moronic tool. "Kudos to S&C for not being afraid of a virus" bahahahahahaha. Imbecile. LMFAO.

Avenuem’s trolling game is honestly astonishingly strong and frankly hilarious, but it consistently just de-rails thread, so I’d prefer it to stop.

Can confirm that S&C does say, during a town hall meeting, that summers will come to the office in July and hopefully the offices will open to have everyone back around July 5. This is a bit ambiguous but I thought it's probably a softer way of saying "mandatory." Nothing in written yet though.

That’s pretty brutal if it’s not optional. Unfortunate that at least one major firm is going against the trend of Labor Day / 2022. To force employees back in the summer when folks are just coming out of a hellish period and able to see friends and loved ones again is a bad result. Hopefully this is not the norm.

Anon so I don’t out myself...

I know this thread is nyc-focused, but still wanted to clarify that, from what I’ve heard (I’m an S&C associate), this back in the office by 7/5 policy likely doesn’t apply to the firm’s other US offices. It sounds like they’re not going to make us come back until everyone has had an opportunity to be vaccinated. Really hope that’s true.

Everyone will have had an opportunity to get vaccinated by July. So if you’re hoping for that to delay it, I think you’ll be disappointed.
