As the title says, does anyone have any updates on law firm hiring freezes? If you did hear about a hiring freeze, do you know when or if it will end?

Also, any information on whether individuals who completed multi interviews will be contacted at a later date or law firms will probably move on?

Please feel free to discuss anything about firm hiring process during this pandemic that you are aware of.

Lewis Brisbois has a hiring freeze in play.

This is the sort of thing that is rarely formally announced. Nobody knows when hiring freezes will end, to the extent they exist.

Right now, I doubt any significant hiring is happening due to the impossibility of in-person interviews.

Ballard Spahr has frozen hiring for the time being.

A partner at my firm (V50) said they imposed a hiring freeze and will aim to use slow associates, not laterals, to fill any groups' needs in the near term.

I think official hiring is on hold at most firms aside from bankruptcy. However, I know people who have been interviewing during the pandemic, so lateral hiring is still a thing right now.

Can you share which firm?

I just got an offer at a small/midsize IP boutique (and interviewed at a couple others) so that's an area where at least some firms are still hiring. Haven't had much luck at general practice firms for IP work though.
