How hard is it to switch practice areas after 1 or 2 years at a firm? There are so many immigration and family law jobs out there...Hypothetically speaking, I get a job at an immigration firm, and then I want to go into a different practice area at a different firm...is that difficult to do?

Also interested in this topic. I want to switch into family law but don't know how to break in. Currently in a specialist practice. Any tips are truly appreciated!

In my experience it has not been hard. I would say that's true for years 1-3ish. After that it becomes harder (not impossible though).

This depends heavily on what your current practice is and what you’re looking to do.

It’ll be hard to go from immigration to corporate law, but may not be as difficult to go to Labor.
