Hello TLS,

I am currently an undergraduate senior, hoping to find a job at a biglaw firm by the time I graduate as a paralegal/case assistant/ project assistant before I apply to law school. I have applied to all the open positions I may be eligible for in my city, but I am nervous that those alone may not give me a good enough chance to land a job. Do think it may be a good idea to cold email firms? If so, who should I send the emails to? HR, paralegal head, ect?

No, I would not recommend you do that. Just apply to open/listed positions.

Agree with the above. You should also consider applying in NYC and maybe Chicago/Houston (the latter two because it's a bit easier to survive on paralegal money) while you're at it - the major markets have much bigger pipelines for the "hire paralegals fresh out of college and let them go after a year" thing whereas smaller markets tend to prefer career paralegals.

Also, use whatever network you might have - you should never cold-email the paralegal head, but even a junior associate emailing them to say "hey give this person an interview" could get your resume pulled from the pile (obviously you'd need someone much higher up to strongly recommend you to guarantee anything).

Thank you for the advice, I'll refrain from doing so and just concentrate on finding appropriate open positions.
