Best Supreme Court practices?

Assuming the necessary credentials, where are the best places for a young associate to pursue Supreme Court litigation? What are the main differences between the Supreme Court practice groups at the major firms in D.C.? How does the quality of work and lifestyle compare? And does anyone know why Jones Day consistently secures more SCOTUS clerks than other firms offering similar compensation?

(Anon because I don't want to out myself to prospective employers)

On JD, beyond fat clerkship compensation, my guess would be that (1) JD has a robust SCOTUS practice, and (2) JD goes to bat for conservative plaintiffs in almost all of their cases, and that's appealing to 55% of the clerks coming out of every year.

Are you excluding the Solicitor General's office, because that's the real answer.
