Top Law Schools

I am currently in my first year of law school at a TTT and am searching for summer plans. During my undergraduate years, I interned at a Fortune 500 company in a compliance (so somewhat related to the law) position. The hours are more flexible and will allow me to take some summer classes as well.

With all that being said, all my friends are doing clerkships this summer and I kind of feel like an oddball. Do you think I should get a clerkship as well? I know its kind of late but I have a few connections that could help me out.

What do you mean by "clerkship?" Do you mean serving as a judicial intern/extern for a judge for the summer or do you mean working as a law clerk (basically a level below a traditional summer associate) at a law firm?

The answer to your question really depends on what you want to do post law school. If you want to go in-house and work in a compliance role, for example, then I'd suggest going back to the F500 and working in the compliance group over the summer. On the other hand, if your goal is to work in a law firm in a practice that is wholly unrelated to F500 compliance, then I would suggest you work for a judge over the summer.
