No Response to Thank You Emails - Bad Sign?

Wanted to hear people’s experience on this - I had a CB interview for a lateral position last week (CA) and sent short but fairly tailored thank you emails the following day. Only one of the 8 interviewers replied, who is not going to be the main decision maker. I thought the interviews went well and the position was a good fit given my experiences (I’d be essentially transferring to the exact same practice group at a peer firm), but now I’m getting worried. This was my first CB since OCI, and I remember back then it seemed like most thank you emails would receive a short “it was nice meeting you too” at least. Would love to hear people’s experience with this. I’m mostly making this post to distract myself from obsessively checking my phone every three minutes.

Not worth worrying about - could be a culture/policy thing, could be they're busy, etc. OCI is different because firms are actively trying to recruit and there's a put-on-a-bright-face attitude.

Put yourself in their shoes. Does the decision of whether you bother to reply to a perfunctory thank-you have anything to do with whether you want to hire someone?

Did you put a period after "Thanks"?

Whether they responded to your thank you emails has nothing to do with whether they’ll offer you the job. You don’t have the job until you have the job. Don’t try to read the tea leaves.

Yet another reason to not send thank you emails for job interviews.

Doesn't matter.

Sometimes I respond to thank you emails, and sometimes I don't - it really just depends on how busy I was the moment the email comes in. I wouldn't read too much into it. Unless my group is really chasing someone or the thank you note is more of a follow-up than a routine thanks ("Thanks for the interview, could you tell me more about this thing you mentioned?") then responding usually isn't a super high priority.

Does not matter. I freaked out about this before after sending a thank you email post callback... and I ended up getting an offer. They're just busy. Don't take it personal.

Stop sending thank you emails
