Job search during recession?

Class of 2017 here doing corporate work at very large/recognized local firm (not BL). Due to personal reasons, I will be moving to NY next year during the first quarter. I have yet to start the lateral job search process, but am extremely concerned about the potential recession that people are saying will likely hit next year. If I remember correctly, I think 3rd-4th yrs were hit the hardest during the last recession. Given my class year, would big law be a possibility for me if I start applying around next year, or would I have better luck in midlaw/boutiques? Given my planned move, I will have to proceed rapidly with the job search process and would like to focus/utilize my time efficiently. Any insight would be appreciated! Also, anon cuz my current firm doesn't know about my personal plans yet. Thank you.

Why haven’t you started the job search yet?

OP here. Due to my personal situation, I'm not entirely sure exactly when I'll be making the move. As of now, my best estimate is March 2020, but if not, it will be late May/early June.
