Benefits of becoming a certified mediator?

I'm a 3L who can become a certified mediator by taking some courses at my school. I am going into big law for corporate restructuring so I'm not sure how helpful this would be for my career. Is there anything I'm missing? Any possible personal benefits?

It will probably teach you basic conflict resolution/communication skills, which for the average socially-inept law student, is probably a good thing.

Eh I’d say zero.

Are you at Northwestern? If so it is worth doing. The class is enjoyable and it is an easy A. Don't plan on it helping your career though.

Could I use it as a backup in case I get fired/laid off? CCR makes it seem like you can be a mediator through me but I'm under the impression most paid mediators are former judges...

No, no one will pay you to mediate their cases after 2.5 years of law school, 10 hours of non-profit training, and 10 visits to a courtroom where you mediate small claims court cases.
CCR is fine and the Northwestern class with it is enjoyable/easy, but this will not magically open up a career path that isn't otherwise available to you. Personally, I would recommend you get certified/take the class because it is a worthwhile practical experience that gets you outside the classroom but I don't think it substantially improved my skill set.
