i interviewed w/ a firm couple months ago but didn't get it. partner emails me today asking whether i have a position yet. i say no and she says she'll keep that in mind once hiring for another associate becomes more concrete in the near future. i guess you can't know for sure, but care to venture a guess what she means? is it an implied "you'll get it when we decide to hire" or more "i can bring you in for another interview"? fyi they said they really liked me. small firm.

It's unlikely they'll ask you to interview again. What's probably going to happen is they'll have a meeting about whether to hire another associate, go through the people who got close last time, and then decide whether to extend an offer to somebody. I don't think they'll bring you in to interview since it seems redundant and they already said they like you. You got close last time and they're looking to see who's still an option since they might have another opening.

I wouldn't count on it though. Seems far-off and you should definitely be hitting every other job opportunity hard. Good luck
