Hi everyone, I'm interested in becoming an ADA in CA or NY but I attend a T1 school in a small state. How open are counties in these states to out of state applicants? What kind of GPA should I aim for if I'm interested in being in ADA in SF, Santa Clara, Manhattan, etc.?

I don’t know these 2 markets specifically, but I’d say barring something truly unusual 1 those jobs aren’t an option for almost anyone and 2 that’s for the best. Those markets get applications from top 10 law schools every year, not to mention the local schools with whom the offices want to keep up feeder relationships. I’d say basically 3 kinds of folks get those jobs 1 insane credentials (Sotomayor) 2 local school grad who interned in the office or 3 10 year experience terminator who was the best in the state elsewhere.

I would also not want those jobs. They have nightmare hours for awful pay. I’ve specifically heard Boston DAs all work second or 3rd jobs just to make ends meet. Also, you’re years and years away from getting out of metro court.

I thought a lot of the California counties paid really well?
