Hello All,

I am very new to this so please bear with me. I am a 2nd tier law student from NY state but am in the top 10 students of my school. On mass mail I have 3 bites so far, 2 of them I got passed the screening interview and have call backs in NYC next week while the other I am waiting to finish my screener. I was wondering what the probability of getting an offer on a call back is. One of the firms is my dream firm and they emailed me the same day as my screener to offer a call-back. I know they do not usually hire from my school so should I keep my hopes low for an offer after the call-back?

It's different for different firms. Some only bring back a few people for CBs and their offer rate is high. Others bring back a lot of people and only give offers to a few. As the other poster said, take each seriously, prepare well, and keep mailing other firms.

I went 2 for 13 on callbacks fwiw, so don't rest on your laurels. 2 of the rejections I was offered the callback during the screener, 4 were straight to callback without a screener (this includes my 2 offers though). Not really worth reading the tea leave, different types of firms have different offer rates for callbacks. I happened to be interviewing for the small number of SA spots in a couple of small markets so even if a firm only gave 20 callbacks, 16 of those people weren't going to be working there.

It really varies. Especially depending on how many summers the firm is taking. I know people woh had 1 callback and got an offer and others with 10 who didn't. Don't count your chickens before they hatch, and prepare well for every callback.
