August Graduation? Is it a big deal?

I'm a new user, so I apologize if this post is not properly placed on this forum or there is another post already addressing this question.

I was wondering about what the general consensus is among law students and attorneys regarding graduating in August rather than May. I was a couple of credits short of graduating at the end of this semester and I was told by my school that my graduation date/certification date will be changed to this coming August.

Is that generally something that employers view as a negative or is it really not a big deal?

Will you still be able to take the July bar? If yes, then graduating in August will barely affect you and I can't imagine any employers would care (since it wouldn't delay your bar admission). However, if you'll be forced to take next February's bar as a result, then your job search may indeed be delayed, as many/most legal employers are unable to take on law school graduates who aren't yet admitted to the bar. (Alternately, you may be taken on but paid at a reduced salary until you get admitted - so, you might be paid less than your May-graduate colleagues for ~6 months.)

Overall, graduating in August won't be a scarlet letter on your resume. It's not that uncommon.
