Job offer

Post by Anonymous User » Fri Jun 07, 2019 4:04 pm

Hello TLS,

I'm looking for advice on what to do. I interviewed for a job two weeks ago and last Thursday (May 30) I received I call with an offer. I politely stated that I am very interested in the position, but that my current job pays X more. I was told that they would discuss it. About two hours later, they called me again asking whether I receive a bonus, how much vacation time etc. because they "are discussing making me a better offer." Haven't heard anything since then. I'm thinking they're probably looking into other people etc. etc. Doesn't matter I guess. So my question is, can/should I follow up, say in a few days, and see "what the status is"? I like my current job so I'd only consider accepting the other offer if it's higher than what I'm currently being paid.

Thanks a lot everyone!

If their first offer was less than you currently make, I’d be very surprised if their offer ends up shaking out to be enough over what your currently make to entice you to leave. You should follow up on Monday, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.
