What's litigation practice in Chicago like?

I'm moving from out West to Chicago to work at a small litigation firm. What's it like? Where I'm from, the bar association is pretty competent, the lawyers on both sides of civil litigation are the usual mixed bag of good/mediocre/awful. There's a...not unreasonable...amount of fuckery by attorneys. Sure, shit happens, like spoliation, lying to the judge, some dirty tricks, but it's not the Wild West, not widespread, not egregious. Sanctions are not super common. Everybody generally knows who the snakes are at various firms and that's just par for the course. Judges are...well, judges. Nuff said on that. So what's the Chicago bar like, and litigation in Cook County?
