How to know which big firms care least about grades?

T6 non-URM 1L headed towards OCI in August and concerned my grades will be under median. I'm not going to rule out any market or practice area, though I have more than a few years of pre-law school work experience in compliance/business. Obviously, it would be devastating to blow OCI and the hiring cycle around it.

The typical advice on this forum for under median folks is to apply to NYC and blanket smaller markets. That's a ton of firms, and I get it, it'll be a lot of work.

I assume some others on this forum might know this experience. Is anyone willing to share their thoughts on which firms in NYC, DC, and Chicago are most accessible (big classes, low GPAs) to an under-median applicant with work experience?

Scroll down a bit in that thread and it refers to a bunch of firms that are not as grade sensitive.

If you’re significantly below median (bottom 40%) and you’re not at HYS, I wouldn’t even waste time on DC.

I’ve seen non-URM below median people at T13 schools get firms as good as Kirkland, so I think there are very few firms that are actually out of the running in NY, especially if you have work experience.
