It’s been a while but when i was looking it was something like
Shook
Husch
Polsinelli
Bryan Cave
Dentons
I did a 1L SA at one of the first three firms. They’re thirsty for people from top schools, but you’ll have to show some connection to the city. They’re wary of being burned.

Second the ties sensitivity. I was a T14 kid from MO (albeit a different part of MO), and my ties were very insufficient to land me a job in Kansas City.

A very big thank you to all. Thanks for listing the go-to firms, I shall check out what openings are available [in my field].
I am a grad from a T13, so that could help. …. My S.O. has strong ties in KC, that too might help. Plus, the firm I am with is well recognized. One big hitch, not barred in K or M, will need to check reciprocity. Again, Thanks.
(Anything else comes to mind, plz let 'er rip)

Original anon here. Spouse from there and moving as a lateral will likely be enough. The sensitivity is most strong regarding summers, especially the 1L summers, because they're worried about people just taking the 10 week cush gig and then going somewhere else...like I did...
What's your practice group? that could affect which firms are best.

New anon. Healthcare is a good niche in KC. Several large health systems here, each with fairly exclusive relationship to one of the big firms. Polsinelli and Husch both have good relationships with health systems. Commercial lit market is hit or miss depending on whether the firm has legacy clients to keep it busy. Salary is basically blackbox, no lockstep, but starting salary generally listed on NALP. Polsinelli is the "hot" firm in town for now.
How recently did you take the bar? UBE? KS and MO both have adopted UBE, so if you're recent enough and a UBE you could transfer in.
