video chat interview, screen

Do you think it would be obvious to have notes up on your laptop screen during a video chat interview? I know you are supposed to look at the camera on the top of the computer, but most people just look at the others' faces on screen anyway, so I thought looking at the notes would just make it look like I'm looking at faces on the screen.

I just have some bullets of things to remember (relating to substantive legal questions). I am bad at memorizing!

Yes, I think it would be obvious. I’d advise not to do it.

It would be obvious. I was an interviewer for our firm's summer associate selection process, and one guy did this. It's not only where you gaze falls but also the way you talk. It will soon become obvious that you're looking at notes. Don't do it. Think about the interview as a conversation, and try your very best to look at the camera. It makes a difference. Good luck!
