Ok to reach out to old recruiting coordinator?

Looking to lateral from my v50 in NYC to my hometown market. The old recruiting coordinator at my current firm now works at a top firm in the market I'm seeking to work in. I think it's probably a good idea to reach out to her, but I'm wondering if there's a chance it gets back to my current firm. Would think no, but if anyone has ever dealt with a similar situation, any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks.
