Starting this thread because: 1) I'm interested in making the transition and 2) although I see it relatively frequently in my market/when I Google profiles of associates/partners in other markets, it is very rarely discussed on TLS. Also, doing this anonymously so that everyone can be candid about their experiences/knowledge (at least as candid as possible). Please share any insights, suggestions, observations etc.

Government is a huge category and the transition will likely vary based on job and your previous credentials. What kind of government job and what experience do you have?

Thanks for the reply. At this point mostly local but I am starting off fed soon. Not necessarily looking biglaw right this moment but in the future. And again just to be clear to other posters, I'm interested in hearing from anyone with any type of government experience who has made the transition.

Experience is litigation--a good bit of which is employment related.

Get a federal clerkship as a jumping off point and I’d bet you’re able to do it.
