Hi all,

I have an interview for a claims counsel position with a title insurance company, and am wondering what the day to day of this kind of work looks like. Is it interesting work? What is the career trajectory like? Does one pigeon-hole themselves in such a field? I'd appreciate any insight.

I’m interested in this too. From what I hear working with a title company should be a last resort if you can’t find anything else. But if you think you’ll get good litigation/ real estate experience and you have no other leads then I say do it.

I'm not familiar with title insurance work specifically but I have experience dealing insurance adjusters. My sense is that the work is not interesting. You'll be assigned a large numbers of claims (some of which have proceeded to litigation) and be responsible for monitoring the status of the claim (i.e., has the insured been sued; what is the status of the lawsuit) and approving settlements for the claims. Advancement would be mostly being promoted within insurance companies. That said, a job is a job.
