Small, personal injury/insurance firm —> regional biglaw

Has anyone been successful with that jump? Trying to make a move (saw an opening at a nearby office of a regional biglaw firm). It is more for D&O and employment claims, but I was wondering if it’s possible that a big firm would consider someone at a 5-10 person shop doing more personal injury and medical insurance claims.

I’m assuming timing is also important. Any success/failure stories welcome

My firm wouldn’t, but if your area is specific enough, it’s possible that some might.

The easier route would be to use a clerkship or two to transition or, alternatively, get into a midlaw firm in the area with a decent rep for 1-2 years first.
