reneging

Post by Anonymous User » Tue Sep 11, 2018 11:32 pm

accepted SA offer at a firm with a VERY narrow practice area that I don't think I'd be happy at and got an offer from another firm with the practice area I actually want to go in - second offer was totally unexpected, as the screener happened after I got the offer from the first. both are vault firms, but in completely different parts of the country. should I renege? any risks? first firm will also have very limited exit ops.

edit: first firm also does not have a 100% offer rate

Sounds like you're not feeling the first firm. Easy decision unless there is something there that will burn you. Be cordial, explain your reasoning, concern, and be truthful. It happens fairly regularly.

thank you! I truly will have a completely different career path if I go to the first firm, so I really do have good reason to renege, this makes me feel better.
