How much time between ausa offer and EOD? The move is cross country and I’d hope for 3 months

It would probably be at least that, assuming you haven't already got a government clearance, because the background check takes a while. The problem is that it's very hard to get a specific EOD date until the background check has actually been done, and in most cases the offer is contingent on the background check, so you might not want to quit/move until you've passed the background check, at which point they will probably want a fairly quick EOD date. The best thing to do is talk to HR/other people in the office who've been hired recently.

I’ve already got the requisite background and clearance.

My clearance took 4 months and then was given a couple options. I think one was like two weeks and one was like 2 months. I was moving too so chose the latter. Big office though.

In that case, I don't think you'd get anything like 3 months. Everyone I know who's essentially transferred (from other USAOs or within DOJ) has had like 6 weeks max, in part b/c the office will generally need you to start taking on cases as soon as you can. But again, the specific office may have different needs/policies, so it's probably tough to generalize.

I don’t have an answer but I’m curious to know what year you are and what you think allowed you to stand out.

I’m assuming they don’t actually have an offer yet, or they could get an answer for this from HR.

The person said they already have the requisite background and clearance--sounds all but in the bag to me.

They could already have a job in DOJ and have the background check and clearance from that job. Because if they have an offer already they should ask that office about EOD date, not the internet.

Ahhh. I see. Totally ignorant about this process. Thanks for clarifying.
