Strung Along by Employer?

Recently had a four hour interview for an in-house job in SF. Seemed promising. Now I'm told that one of the deciders is on vacation, but then saw the same vacancy re-posted. Anyone else have experiences with being strung along? I think in this particular example, they liked me, but didn't love me, so wanted to see what else is out there. But how long should one even wait in this game of being strung along?

Keep hunting for jobs at full steam until you have a formal offer you want to accept. Don't rest on your laurels waiting for any particular company.
As for whether you should still consider working for this company (assuming they eventually extend you an offer)... I'd still be willing to consider them if I were in your shoes. After all, it's business, and I don't think you should hold it against them for considering other candidates (even after they've already interviewed you).

That's true. And gives me better perspective. Maybe I was just too sensitive about this. Of course they'd want to see what else is out there. I'd be a little hesitant maybe that they have a concern about me that makes them hesitant about extending an offer, and that's why they re-opened it. They've said a few white lies regarding the delays, but I suppose that is understandable as well. This position would involve moving from NY to SF, so the delay is complicated because I would need to start planning this move..Thanks for ur input!

What's the usual turnover for an in house attorney role (from final interview to offer)? Generally pretty fast right?

Depends. I've seen offers extended later that day, and sometimes an offer isn't extended for a couple weeks because other candidates were scheduled for interviews that far out. Usually, 2 weeks is the outer bound of that unless it's a very senior position.
