OP here. I was trying to avoid specifics, but I am considering the Orange County offices for both. For some reason, many attorneys I have talked to regard Latham and O'Melveny as the top corporate firms in Orange County. This is precisely where I am conflicted, as I've been told on multiple occasions go OMM (or Latham) for corporate in Orange County, but Chambers (and now here) point GDC.Anonymous User wrote:Are you serious? https://www.chambersandpartners.com/160 ... _editorial
I'm not sure about that either. Gibson Dunn is a solid Band 1 firm in litigation. O'Melveny is band 2-4.hlsperson1111 wrote:For corporate, Gibson and it's not particularly close. If you were a litigator, this would be a much closer call - close enough that I would say to pick entirely based on fit/where you liked the people best.
Gibson immediately fired that guy.Anonymous User wrote:Gibson for sure, not even close. I would consider Gibson and Latham the top OC firms.
There was a recent WSJ article saying that a few years ago the head of Gibson OC office was caught banging a female associate in his office. So if you're a female, watch out for the culture I guess.
I don't know what to tell you. I've worked in LA for years and they are considered peer firms in litigation. The OMM blog is unhinged and I would put no stock in anything that guy says.Anonymous User wrote:I'm not sure about that either. Gibson Dunn is a solid Band 1 firm in litigation. O'Melveny lost a lot of their best partners due to defections. Also Google the words O'Melveny blog. One of their former attorneys disliked O'Melveny so much he created a blog about it.
What about the partner defections?hlsperson1111 wrote:I don't know what to tell you. I've worked in LA for years and they are considered peer firms in litigation.
