Callback interview as a transfer

Dear TLS,

I recently did OCI at a T2 school and have my first CB scheduled for next week. After OCI and serious consideration, I accepted an offer of admission from a T6 school (only school I applied as a transfer to, and the school I always wanted to attend) I received very late in the cycle.

I have the following questions:

1) Should the resume I send the recruiters pre-callback include my new status as a transfer student at X law school?

2) Overall, will this status work against me at the callback stage?

Statistically, the first firm I am interviewing with has only 2 active attorneys from my T2 school, while it has over 20 from the T6 to which I have transferred.

My first CB is with my dream firm so really want to optimize the situation. I accepted the transfer for personal reasons and due to the inability of my T2, where I am paying near sticker, to offer me any additional merit-based aid.

All advice and experiences are greatly appreciated.

I write as a rising 2L transfer also going through OCI currently.

I had applied to several firms as part of a job fair while at my old school. When attending the job fair, I gave updated versions of my resume to employers, highlighting my new school. The interviewers were thrilled, and I had an extremely high cb ratio (and a few offers!). Moral of the story: don’t worry! It can really only be a positive thing. That said, I would send your resume in to the recruiter now so they can be prepared.

Definitely agree with the above anon, let it show on the updated resume that you transferred. In many cases it either won't make a difference or it will be a positive, rarely I think would that be a negative. The only thing I can imagine is if the interviewer is one of those 2 people from your old school, but even then I'm sure it's fine. Transferring has become much more common in the last 10-15 or so years and it's not so unusual or taboo anymore.

Congrats on the transfer and good luck with the CB
