Hey TLS,

Thanks as always for your help; couldn't do it without ya.

So I have a 2L summer associate OCI interview with a big law firm on Aug 8 and I wanted to email at least a few of the attorneys there who went to my law school or work in an area I have experience/interest in to learn more about what they do, the firm's culture etc because I am genuinely interested in the firm and also want to have things to talk about at the interview/show that I have demonstrated a real interest.

But what is the best way to broach the fact that I will be interviewing with that firm next week?

I obviously have to mention it somehow because I would need to meet/talk to these contacts before August 8 for it to be of most value, but I don't want it to make it look like I am just reaching out because I think they can help me get a job.

Am I over worrying about this?
Should I just say I have an upcoming interview and I want to learn about bla bla?

Thank you everyone

I did just this this summer. I found attorneys from my school or relevant practice area and just emailed asking for a quick phone call since I’ll be interviewing soon and have questions. The attorneys were happy to help. Don’t worry. I can’t see how it could possibly hurt you. In my case, I got helpful information. If the same attorney happens to be an interviewer, even better.
