Filling out conflicts as an ada! (Over 1k matters) Help!!

Hi,

I am an ada and filling out conflicts form to go to the private sector. I have not previously been in the private sector. I have prosecuted over a thousand matters, and I keep the court number, name, and charges in a spreadsheet.

One of the questions on the form is all matters (even not involving firm) both inactive and active.

Am I supposed to send a spreadsheet attachment with thousands of entries? I’m worried, of course, about them changing their minds or complicating or holding up the process.

Thanks!

Yeah, conflicts forms suck. I'm not 100% sure I understand your question, though. You say you already have a list of all the cases. Can you not just say "See attached"? If you're asking whether it's okay to say "see attached," it's probably fine, but just ask. They obviously want you if they made you an offer. Also, typically, these forms are only for the past X years if it doesn't involve the new firm - make sure you're not doing too much.

OP here. I don’t yet have an offer (contingent on conflicts). I only have finished interview process and now am told the next step is conflicts.

Putting the list together won’t be overly difficult. It’s not the effort that’s my concern...I think it’s the potential to trip at the finish line in the form of putting too much work (via a list of 3 thousand cases) into the conflicts Attorney’s or something. Or, relatedly, I suppose a concern is unnecessarily holding up the process for months while they go through that.

So you’re saying it wouldn’t be problematic to just email back and say hey, I have a list of 3k cases, given my background. This form asks for all of them do you really want them all, or is there a way I could limit them?

Yes I do not see how it would hurt to e-mail back the recruiting person you are working with at the firm to ask for clarification given your unique circumstances.

I'm a current ADA and would have no idea how to respond. Like would cases I stood on at arraignments and calendar call count, or just those that were assigned to me? I wouldn't even know how to track each case I touched.

OP here. I listed all the matters that I’m currently aware are active. It was about 200 give or take. Will update thread to let you know it suffices.

To current adas: track cases you’re assigned to in a spreadsheet. It’ll come in handy one day and likely help with organization.

I didn’t even bother with trying to figure out cases I may have stood on because, to me, those weren’t really matters I worked on...more matters where I was just vocalizing the assigned prosecutor’s directions.
